Mastering the fine art of dentistry for smiles that look beautiful yet naturally enhanced
True to our name, Dental Arts of Orland takes cosmetic dentistry very seriously. If ever there was a category of dental treatment that demands an artistic eye and skilled hand, it would be cosmetic procedures. Minor details accumulate to create significant, positive outcomes when they are taken into account through careful treatment planning and smile design. Dr. Scott Lang and our team in Orland Park, Illinois, strive to “wow” our patients with results that blend beautifully with their overall look and personality. Your smile should look naturally appealing, and just as good under the light of day as it might be on camera.
What cosmetic dentistry procedures do you offer?
Procedures to enhance the appearance of your teeth include
- Professional teeth whitening: we offer both in-office and home whitening options
- Dental bonding to address many imperfections in the smile in just one visit
- Porcelain veneers โ many celebrities’ “secret” to a flawless-looking smile
Am I a good candidate for cosmetic dentistry?
You may be! Before we proceed with any of the services mentioned above, Dr. Lang must confirm that your teeth, gums, and mouth are healthy. Otherwise, you would be a candidate for a different category of treatment โ known as restorative dentistry. Restorations treat damage to the teeth and gums that can also mar the appearance of your smile. These treatments range from tooth-colored fillings to zirconia dental crowns. Following an examination of your mouth and in consultation with you, Dr. Lang can discuss recommendations to promote your healthiest, most aesthetically pleasing smile.

Does professional teeth whitening really work?
Yes. As a dentist, Dr. Lang has access to only the most powerful and highest-quality bleaching gels and systems. He uses the leading Opalescenceโข whitening system. For our patients’ convenience, we offer both in-office and home whitening. The former option can get big results in one visit, whereas the latter alternative gets results gradually. You can whiten from the comfort of your couch or while you sleep!
What does dental bonding treat?
Both dental bonding and porcelain veneers “work” in generally the same way; they cover up teeth with noticeable cosmetic flaws. By applying and bonding or securing dental materials to the teeth, bonding or veneers disguise excess spaces, chips, signs of wear and tear, stubbornly stained or very yellow teeth, and more. It’s like waving a magic wand over your smile to make noticeable irregularities disappear!
What are the differences between bonding and veneers?
Bonding generally involves using a composite resin dental material. Dr. Lang applies his skill to place and shape the material directly on the teeth. When he can no longer see the cosmetic concern, and everything looks perfect, the resin is hardened and fixed securely with a special curing light.
Veneers require two visits. The first visit involves removing a small amount of enamel. Dr. Lang also collects information about your teeth, which is sent to our lab, where they will make your veneers. The second visit involves applying the permanent veneers to the “prepared” or slightly reduced teeth, so they don’t jut out too much. If everything looks and feels right, he bonds or secures the veneer to each tooth.
Are veneers made from composite resin, too?
Veneers are commonly made from porcelain, a type of ceramic that is highly resistant to staining, looks like natural enamel, and is very strong.
