What does dental bonding treat?
Both dental bonding and porcelain veneers “work” in generally the same way; they cover up teeth with noticeable cosmetic flaws. By applying and bonding or securing dental materials to the teeth, bonding or veneers disguise excess spaces, chips, signs of wear and tear, stubbornly stained or very yellow teeth, and more. What are the differences between bonding and veneers?
Bonding generally involves using a composite resin dental material. Dr. Lang applies his skill to place and shape the material directly on the teeth. When he can no longer see the cosmetic concern, and everything looks perfect, the resin is hardened and fixed securely with a special curing light.
Veneers require two visits. The first visit involves removing a small amount of enamel. Dr. Lang also collects information about your teeth, which is sent to our lab, where they will make your veneers. The second visit involves applying the permanent veneers to the “prepared” or slightly reduced teeth, so they don’t jut out too much. If everything looks and feels right, he bonds or secures the veneer to each tooth.
Are veneers made from composite resin, too?
Veneers are commonly made from porcelain, a type of ceramic that is highly resistant to staining, looks like natural enamel, and is very strong.
